Front End Developer Intern

Role Overview

HelpSeeker is looking for a full-time (minimum 30 hours/week) Front End Developer Intern to join our growing company. As a team player, you will bring your keen eye for detail and problem-solving skills to the Innovation team. Your experience in Agile frameworks and popular front end coding languages (e.g. HTML, JavaScript) will make you the ideal Front End Developer.

This is a remote position – work from home anywhere in Canada.

The internship commences October 1, 2021, and ends March 31, 2022. There may be an opportunity to transition to a permanent position once the internship has been completed.

This position is being hired through the Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) Program

To qualify as an Intern for this role, you must:

  • Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the internship
  • Be a post-secondary graduate (not mandatory for candidates living in the Yukon, North West Territories, and Nunavut)
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada and is legally entitled to work
  • Self-assess as underemployed – meaning that you are employed below your level of education, are unemployed or hold part-time employment

When you join HelpSeeker you will:

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to design, build, test and release high quality interfaces for customers.
  • Help shape the technical roadmap for the company’s frontend.
  • Using agile methods, rapidly iterate and test continuous improvements to our code.
  • Work with our UX/UI team and backend developers to ensure the best experience for using our products.
  • Ensure scalability and efficient function of our interfaces for internal and external users.
  • Work with existing products to ensure expansion and help deliver on new products.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and 3+ years of experience.
  • Previous success in designing, developing and maintaining software.
  • Self starter with the ability to translate business needs into technical outcomes.
  • Experience writing clean JavaScript and UI code that performs well at scale.
  • Experience with angular a plus
  • An understanding of SaaS software development practice, previous experience working on a SaaS product will be viewed favourably.
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams and translation of concepts into code.
